What is a second chance?
I used to believe that second chances were gifts that people extended to others until I understood that each second is a chance to create a new reality. This issue of chance morphed from a matter of circumstances out of my control, to a choice that was mine only despite the circumstances. In this mode of thought, chance is the opportunity of time, and the conscious recognition and resulting gratitude of such opportunity.
We have all fell short in some area of performance at one time or another. The earliest common memories we all share are often along the themes of school, extracurriculars, or love. As we grow older, the dominant themes become mission, family, and finances. I think all would agree, we may have not done our best every time, in every circumstance, and that individuals deserve a second chance: that is, the opportunity to perform better on the next try. Sometimes we need another shot.
In recognizing time as opportunity, I was able to control the seconds of my own life and create chances for myself and others. In looking to “build as I climb”, I hope to motivate, move, and inspire others to positive strategic action.
Let's make a positive impact together.
After evolving from a rebellious teenage/young adult stage, I started my career in construction as a minority shareholder and estimator at a residential remodeling firm in Virginia. Vowing never to let another force determine my career’s altitude based on questionable decisions made as a child, I started my own company in Chicago in 2009. In the years since, after employing over 50 people while acclimating newcomers to the trade, I now focus on capital acquisition and development in real estate and construction through the vehicles: Nation Builders Construction Group and TRUdelta LLC. The two forms of capital that are most important to my focus are human and financial as I look to build a brighter Afrikan Future where tomorrow’s leaders live, work, and play smarter together in.
I am a single father that raised/am raising my four children in my household and am motivated by an internal compass to excel despite any external challenge that presents itself.
I enjoy literary, creative, visual, and performing arts, traveling, and building substantially sustainable things with fundamentally solid people.
